KTM Duke 390 Xplorer Kit from Autologue Design is built for adventure touring

The designers at Autologue Design seem all set to beat KTM to the ADV tourer. People at the design house are designing their own touring design body kit for the KTM range. The body kit will be called Xplorer, and it aims to transform touring for KTM bikes. Sounds interesting? Well, take a look at some of the digital renderings.

Digital renderings released by Autologue Design shows the aerodynamic touring design. The design gives the idea of whole concept, which includes a semi-faired front design with a tall windshield. The idea behind the concept is to reduce the windblast and increase the aerodynamics of the bike. KTM Duke 390 is one of the fastest bikes in its segment. Adding a touring aerodynamic body kit will make it a more capable sports tourer.

The KTM 390 Adventure, arriving early next year, runs on a 19-inch front wheel against 17-inch of Duke 390. The bigger wheel provides more off-road capabilities. However, the KTM 390 Xplorer kit designed by Autologue Design will use the standard 17-inch front wheel.

Apart from the Duke 390, Autologue Design is also designing the touring body kits for KTM Duke 250. A similar designed kit will be made for the Duke 200 which shares similar design lines with old-gen Duke 390. Autologue Design will only make changes to the aesthetics of the motorcycles, and no mechanical changes are expected.

The KTM Duke 390 Xplorer will be powered by a regular 373 cc single cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing power of 44 Bhp and with a peak torque of 35 Nm. The Duke 390 is one of the fastest accelerating bikes in the segment. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

With the Xplorer kit, the Duke 390 will be slightly heavier than the regular bike due to the added weight of the body kit. The Duke Xplorer will not make changes to the cycle parts of the motorcycle. This means that the bikes using the kit will continue to feature a trellis frame chassis, all-LED headlight and taillights and TFT display meter with Bluetooth connectivity. The suspension set-up will remain unchanged with front telescopic inverted forks and monoshock suspension at the rear.

The KTM Duke 390 offers a good braking set-up, thanks to a 320 mm front disc with a four-piston caliper and a 230 mm rear disc with a single piston caliper. Safety features like ABS are provided as standard. The Duke Xplorer will get the same braking set-up with ABS as standard. The KTM Duke Xplorer will get the regular size fuel tank with a capacity of 13.5-litres. The Xplorer design is in its development phase and the final product is yet to surface. Stay tuned for more updates on this new touring design concept from Autologue Design.
